Having been referred to the Endoscopy department, I had excellent treatment from start to finish. Dr Sharkey listened well and gave me goo information about my situation and the procedure. She gave me the choice between having a local or a general anaesthetic. I had to wait just a few weeks before the procedure and was sent very clear, information. I was made even happier by being given an earlier appointment. On the day, the receptionist was cheerful, the nurse, who took my blood pressure was reassuring and I was put at ease by being met by Dr Stournaras, the endoscopies. Music in the room helped me feel calm.The local was sprayed twice and took effect almost straightaway. Camille held my hand and I found closing my eyes and breathing slowly kept me calm. Swallowing the camera took only a couple of gulps and although I felt it descend into my stomach, it wasn’t uncomfortable. Air was put to help the investigation and then, after a matter of minutes, the procedure was over, with an apologetic burp as the camera came out! The team were so professional and caring . The report was written immediately and the doctors went through the results and aftercare. It was such a quick procedure that I would recommend it to anyone, who wants great care. Thank you all so much.

I have been attending appointments with Dr Sharkey for several years now following the problems I was left with following my radiotherapy treatment. It is a pleasure to see her as she listens to the answers to her questions and has arranged treatment for me that she feels might help. It has helped me to cope with my condition because I know that she is there to help me and that I can contact her if I need to between visits. This results in almost looking forward to the appointments instead of dreading them.

I have been a patient of Dr Sharkeys for around 3 years now. I have had so many down times with my illness and Lisa has always listened to me and offered advice. Unlike other Doctors she treats me like a person and not a statistic which I feel is very important and helps build a professional trust. I am sometimes not an easy patient and have become very tearful and hostile at times however I know that she understands what I go through everyday. I have spent my whole life surrounded by one doctor or another and hand on heart I trust her with everything concerning my illness. Thank you Dr Lisa Sharkey for all the care that you have shown over the past years from myself and my family

I really like the fact she always treats me like a person not just a patient or a number. She always has time to listen to what I say and genuinely cares about how I feel. Unlike many doctors she is not arrogant and always talks to me and explains things. I feel she tries to find solutions when things aren’t going well and is honest with me. I do sometimes feel a bit alone when at home, so maybe a more straightforward and easy access to speak to her about issues. Also delegating the task of writing letters doesn’t always work, as sometimes this makes them less accurate. I feel documentation in general could possibly be improved, I feel this is an issue across the board, but is quite important for complex chronically ill patients.

Dr Sharkey has always been there fot me through all my post transplant blips that ive had , each time I have been in difficulty with my blips Dr Sharkey has always explained things clearly to me in ways i can understand not medical jargon which i wouldn't have a clue about it , but also laying out a plan fot my forward care so I can manage when im back home .Dr Sharkey Always makes me feel safe and secure knowing shes part of My team and I know that sounds silly but having a Dr that can make you feel like that when you are so complicated as a patient is a life changer .Dr Sharkey is always there to help ,reassure and fix me ..I would be lost with out her
